« I come from the Bois-Francs area and I’ve been
drawing since childhood. Won a few prizes for
it, too.”
I had great interest in art. It was only after
trying out other mediums in 1980 that I
discovered aquarelle while studying in Mr Alain
Laroche’s class. It immediately became my
passion. However, I had to put my desire to
pursue it on hold for a few years, as I had to
take care of my family. But my dream didn’t fade
away, and as soon as my kids grew up, leaving me
with more time for myself, I started taking
classes at the Art Workshop in Alma, Judith
Tremblay was my teacher. After that, I perfected
my knowledge of the medium with Thérèse Fournier
during a one-year class. I also attended
intensive workshops with renowned artists such
as Jacques Hébert in 1994, Norbert Lemire 1995
and also Pierre Tougas.
I’ve been part of several group and solo
exhibits, as well as several symposiums such as
« Alma l’aquarelle en ville » (Aquarelle in the
big city), "Symposium du Lac Beauport et
Symposium de Val-Jalbert" of which I obtained
the Val-Jalbert prize in 1999. I was selected
for la Maestria contest in 2000 for my work
“L’Enfant du froid” (kid from the cold? Kid in
the cold?). In the same year, my works were
selected for “L’internationnal de la miniature
de St-Nicolas” In 2001, I was chosen by the city
of Alma to make the cover page of the brochure
offered by le Service des Loisirs de Ville
d'Alma (Alma’s leisure office).
In 2002, I had the joy of having one of my works
selected for and be invited myself to the
prestigious “Société canadienne de l'aquarelle"
exhibit. My passion hasn’t left me, and I find
in aquarelle a heartfelt way to communicate what
I see around me, whether on trips or in daily
life, and express it through motion, color and
techniques, of which I always seem to master new
ones. If I spend a day without spending… then
something’s missing. The night will be long…
before I pick up my brushes again.
